As we bid farewell to 2023 and prepare for the exciting possibilities of 2024, it’s time to reflect on the incredible journey of the past year at Nyblad Construction. It has been a year marked by significant achievements, personal milestones, and moments of both joy and sadness.

Shining Bright: Linn’s Accolades and Recognition

• One of the highlights of the year was undoubtedly our own Linn Batey’s accomplishments. Having obtained her Site Supervisor Licence – Medium rise, she further cemented her position as an invaluable asset to our team. Her dedication and hard work were recognized on numerous occasions, including:
  • Winning the Sunshine Coast Regional Women in Building Award at the Master Builders Sunshine Coast Housing & Construction Awards.
  • Reaching the finals in the Queensland Master Builders Housing & Construction Awards.
  • Being a finalist in three categories at the AWIC Awards, ultimately taking home the Outstanding Woman in Trade Award and Exceptional Business Manager Award.

Linn’s success is a testament to her talent, determination, and commitment to breaking barriers in the construction industry. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and inspired by her leadership.

Community and Recognition:

Our commitment to excellence extended beyond individual achievements. We were thrilled to be a finalist in the Building and Construction category of the esteemed Sunshine Coast Business Awards. While we didn’t take home the prize, the mere nomination placed us amongst the best of the best businesses on the Sunshine Coast, an honour we hold close to our hearts.

2023 also witnessed a significant milestone for us with our inaugural Pink Ribbon Breakfast. Through this event, we aimed to raise awareness and support for breast cancer research. The overwhelming generosity of our guests and the kind contributions from The Pastry Lab, Cocoa Spice, and Bakers Delight Currimundi helped us raise over $1,300 for this worthy cause. We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the fight against cancer and make a positive impact in our community.

Continuous Learning and Growth

Throughout the year, we actively participated in various Master Builders info sessions and events to stay abreast of the evolving industry landscape. We focused on staying informed about the latest regulations, particularly those surrounding waterproofing and sustainable housing practices. This commitment to continuous learning ensures we deliver the highest quality and most innovative solutions to our clients.

Saying Goodbye to Valued Members of Our Team

This year also brought moments of sadness with the unexpected passing of one of our painters and the departure of our long-term employee, Tyler.

Tyler joined us five years ago as our first full-time carpenter and quickly climbed the ranks, demonstrating his exceptional skills and dedication. He progressed from Supervisor Carpenter to Project Manager and later to Estimator. While we are excited for him as he embarks on a new chapter in the new builds sector, Tyler will be deeply missed.
